We are looking forward to a fun and busy Summer term in Elm Class. Our topics are “Growing and changing” and “The seaside.” For the first half of term we will be observing changes in animals, ourselves and the world around us, life cycles of butterflies and growing our own sunflowers and beanstalks.

In the second half of term we will be looking at books such as “Commotion in the Ocean”, “The whale and the snail” and “Sharing a shell” to learn about different habitats and environments.

The children are responding really well to our multi-sensory, language rich Write stuff literacy lessons. Our next two literacy topics will be a non-fiction “How to make a chocolate mud cake” and a fiction book “Katie’s sunflowers”.

In maths we will be consolidating our knowledge of numbers, looking at number and shape patterns, measuring and finding out about 3D shapes.

We are looking forward to more summary weather and spending lots of time exploring our lovely outside area and carrying out lots of outside learning.
