The final term is already here! Hopefully the warm sunny days will also be here too!

We are all looking forward to the lovely things we have planned for this term and the amazing things we will be learning.

A big welcome back to Mrs Hayward who is now back from maternity leave and will be teaching in Elders every Thursday and Friday. Mrs Beck will continue to teach on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Lawrence will be here every day!!

In English we will be starting the term writing a non chronological report about pirates – ooooh aaaaah! We will then enjoy writing based on the stories A Crow’s Tale and The Marvellous Fluffy Itty Bitty. We will continue to work hard on our handwriting, punctuation, extending our sentences using conjunctions as well as checking our work to make sure it makes sense, is written in the correct tense and is the best it can be!

In our maths learning we will begin with learning all about fractions, finding halves, quarters and thirds of shapes and amounts. We will then move on to learn about time, statistics, position and direction. In elders we also have number time each day where we daily practice using the 4 operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to keep our knowledge of number at the front of our minds. We also love completing a flashback 4 challenge each morning, recapping what we have already learnt in maths.

In history we are learning about toys from the past, comparing them to now. Our science topic is Protecting the environment and we can’t wait to hear all of the amazing ideas that the elders have.

PE continues to be each Monday and Friday and reading books will be changed each week on a Friday. Your continued support to read at home with your child as much as possible is appreciated.

We can’t wait to continue with your child’s learning journey this term and prepare them for their move into year 3 at the end of the term.

Thanks for your support,

Mrs Beck, Mrs Hayward & Mrs Lawrence
