Gosh spring was a busy term, but the highlight was definitely our visit to Colchester Castle. We were able to descend into the foundations of the Roman Temple and learn all about Roman armour and how the Celts painted themselves with dye to show that the gods were on their side. We also learnt how the Romans displayed the heads of runaway Celts on poles to stop other slaves from attempting to escape! Yikes! Upstairs we had a go at recreating a Celtic roundhouse and a Roman Villa. Some of us dressed up in Celtic costumes and we all had a go at driving a chariot – good job it was virtual as there were several crashes!

We hope you had a super Easter break.

Our time table for the summer term will tend to vary quite a bit due to SATs, the year 6 residential and preparations for the year 6 play at the end of the year. However, PE and swimming will continue as it has done although swimming will be a little earlier. On PE days it might be an idea to put suncream on your child before school and make sure they have a sunhat with them.

In science we will be looking at life cycles; in humanities we will be studying Anglo Saxons and then The River Rhine and The Mediterranean; RE will be looking at heroes of faith; and we will be doing lots of DTprojects.

Your child has their own dojo and tt-rockstars logins and we would encourage you to support them in accessing these valuable learning resources outside of school. Please let me know if you require more help or support in using these apps.

We look forward to another term filled with exciting learning opportunities to support your children in their progression and learning journey.

Kind Regards

Miss Felgate and the Maple team.
