Welcome back to a new term! We hope you all had a fabulous Easter break and are well rested. We are very excited for the term ahead and are looking forward to lots of exciting things in the diary. Here are a few things we are looking forward to and also, things we need to remember..

SATs

As to be expected, lots of the children are feeling nervous about the upcoming SATS assessments. However, we are confident that the children have worked hard this year and will perform the best they can. SATs boosters will continue for the first few weeks back to help prepare them the best we can. During SATs week, we will have lots of adults around to calm their nerves and be there for them as needed.

Residential and Year 6 play

Once SATs have been completed, we have lots of exciting lessons to look forward to for the remaining summer term. I know lots of the children are excited about our school residential that is coming up. Residential is a great way for the children to build confidence in a range of situations and learn some team working skills. There will be a variety of activities for them to participate in from rock climbing to canoeing and they will be given free time to play with their friends each day. If there are any residential questions, please do not hesitate to contact me through Dojo or you can speak to the office staff during school hours.

We then have the Year 6 play to look forward to where the children will have the opportunity to audition for the part they would like to play. We will then spend lots of time rehearsing during the afternoons until we are ready for a week of performances!

Equipment:

Children need to come to school in PE kits for their PE lesson with Mr Entwistle. This should include: a school PE top, black shorts for the summer, black jogging bottoms for the winter, sensible trainers and plimsolls. On Wednesdays, it is essential that children bring their swimming kits as this is a statutory requirement for Year 5 children. This should include: a swimming costume (1 piece or trunks), a swimming hat and a towel. This year, we encourage children to bring in a pencil case with a pencil, pen and ruler to encourage more independence. Children should also have a water bottle daily as we will not be able to provide one for them. If children choose to bring a phone into school, it must be handed into the office each morning and can be collected at the end of the day.

Queries

If you have any questions or concerns relating to your child, please contact the school office and they will make an appointment or you can contact me directly through Dojo.

We are looking forward to another exciting term ahead!
