Welcome back to a new school year! We hope you all had a fabulous summer break and are well rested. We are looking forward to another exciting year with you all.

It is going to be a busy and exciting year so here are a few things to remember…

Staff:

Your teacher this year will be Miss Hardy and your teaching assistants will be Mrs Kelso (Monday and Tuesday) and Miss Marshall (Wednesday to Friday).

Homework:
As we are now in year 6, there will be a change with homework this year. We will be setting a piece of maths and SPAG each week for the children to complete in their homework books. We will choose a day for this at the beginning of term. If children do not complete their homework by the deadline, we will be supporting them at break time with this. We will also be awarding prizes throughout the year for consistently completing homework.  As usual, we will expect children to read regularly throughout the week and reflect on what they have read in their reading journals. We will also be setting TTRS challenges for them to complete as this is an essential skill that we all need to work on.

Equipment:

Children need to come to school in PE kits for their PE lesson with Mr Entwistle. This should include: a school PE top, black shorts for the summer, black jogging bottoms for the winter, sensible trainers and plimsolls. On Wednesdays, it is essential that children bring their swimming kits as this is a statutory requirement for Year 5 children. This should include: a swimming costume (1 piece or trunks), a swimming hat and a towel. This year, we encourage children to bring in a pencil case with a pencil, pen and ruler in to encourage more independence. Children should also have a water bottle daily as we will not be able to provide one for them. If children choose to bring a phone into school, it must be handed into the office each morning and can be collected at the end of the day.

Queries:

If you have any questions or concerns relating to your child, please contact the school office and they will make an appointment or you can contact me directly through Seesaw.

We are really looking forward to the year ahead!

Miss Hardy, Mrs Kelso and Miss Marshall
