On Friday the whole school enjoyed watching a production of ‘The Secret Garden’
the children really enjoyed the experience of immersive theatre, with lots of them
singing along and commenting on how much they enjoyed it. After the performance Year 6 then took part in a theatre workshop with the cast where they learnt all about theatre production and had a go at some acting themselves!

I am pleased to see that around the school and in classes the children are sharing the key vocabulary from their learning in mainstream classes and specialist provisions across a variety of subjects.

This is Science in Pine (Communication and Interaction class KS2):

Instructional vocabulary in Rowan Class (Year 4):

Instruction writing and key vocabulary in History from Birch class (Year 3/4):

This month is Black history month and the children have been using their time in PSHE to link their learning about people who help us, those who have responsibilities and people who inspire us to learn about key historical figures. In assembly we discussed Rosa Parks and the events of the bus boycott and in Reception the children have been learning about Mary Seacole.

It is also lovely to see that during the school day the children in Acorn class use all the outside space to practise
their gross motor skills, riding the trikes and bikes.

This week, the girls came forth in their football match – well done!

We also held the first of our open events for the Reception in take for September 2023. It was lovely to meet new families and show them around the school. The children who came to visit were lucky enough to take away one of our new school bugs!

Enjoy your week ahead and have a lovely half term!
